California State Science Fair
Mentorship Program

Would you like to have a real scientist or engineer be an advisor for your science fair project? Now you can. The California State Science Fair has, for several years now, put students in touch with personal science fair advisors using the Internet.

Whether you need help in selecting your project or have a problem getting your experiment to work, your advisor will be there to give you advice and encouragement using e-mail and the World Wide Web. If you are accepted to the program you will be assigned a professional scientist or engineer from our science fair judges to work with you as your personal science fair coach. Your advisor will be chosen based on the area of science you are interested in. You will be able to correspond with your science fair advisor using e-mail. Whether you need answers to questions about planning your project, advice about science careers, guidance on how to apply to a university, or the inside scoop on how to prepare for the science fair, your advisor will be there to help you.

The function of our mentors is to assist throughout the entire science project process.

If this sounds like an interesting program, all you need to do in order to request your own advisor is fill out this form. Hurry because we have only a limited number of advisors and will be accepting student applications on a first come first served basis.

Teachers: You can have a scientist be an advisor for your classes too!

The application process for advisors is presently closed, and is awaiting a new Director of the Mentorship Program. When the Program is reopened, it will be announced here as well as our Home Page.
