CSSF Students Named as Finalists in the
Third Annual Discovery Young Scientist Challenge

Seven CSSF Students Named to Final Forty

(September 10, 2001) - Seven participants in the 2001 California State Science Fair have been named as finalists in the Third Annual Discovery Young Scientist Challenge. These seven finalists were chosen from over 6,000 students nominated to DYSC this year, and are among only 40 finalists from around the country. California had more DYSC finalists than any other state this year, and tied Texas for the most projects represented at five. Next month, the Final Forty will travel to the nation's capital and compete for more than $100,000 in college scholarships and other awards in science competitions that will take place at Smithsonian Institution museums and the National Zoo.

The DYSC is a national science competition for students in grades 5-8 created by DCI and Science Service to encourage the exploration, understanding, and communication of science among the next generation of America's youth.
