The California State Science Fair has established 910 as a nominal target number for the 2000 project allocations. This number is based on our experience with the results of allocations in 1998 and 1999, and does not indicate a desire to raise the size of the Fair to this level. Rather, built into this number is the assumption that there will be a fraction of allocations statewide which are not utilized.
Please note that this target number is significantly reduced from the 1999 target, reflecting our experience and expectations as to the number of projects which will actually participate this year. In consequence of this reduction, it is likely that your fair's allocation for 2000 will be smaller than in 1999.
The fractions of the total allocations which derive from each of the previously established criteria (population, previous participation and category awards, and a baseline to protect small affiliates) have for 2000 been established as given in the following table.
Criteria | Impact |
---|---|
Population | 5% |
Project Participation | 55% |
Category Awards | 25% |
Baseline | 15% |
Target Number | 100% |
The following table implements the policy specified above. For your reference, the values used for each of the three input quantities are also included, as well as the 1999 allocations and actual number of projects participating in 1999. Allocations for 2000 are rounded (up or down) to the nearest integer.
