2002 California State Science Fair
Projects by Fair

The following table lists the projects recorded in the CSSF database to date according to the fair which they represent. This table is believed to be a correct representation for each listed fair, though it is not at this point an official count. Persons interested in the likelihood of alternates lists being used for a particular fair should compare the total project count with the allocation for that fair listed in the final column.

The "Project Count" includes all projects from each fair, regardless of whether a submitted project is on an alternates list. Where the count exceeds a fair's allocation given next to it, then alternates from that fair will be accepted in the prioritized order provided by the county or regional science fair until the allocation limit has been reached.

Fair Project
Count

Butte County Science Fair 1 6
Calaveras County Science Fair 4 6
Central California Regional Science, Math, & Engineering Fair 78 75
Greater San Diego Science & Engineering Fair 122 106

San Joaquin County Science Fair 7 6
San Luis Obispo County Science Fair 11 15
San Mateo County Science Fair 49 42

Please note that this table lists only those fairs with at least one project representing it already in the database.

This list has not yet been checked for timeliness with regard to application deadlines. Projects electronically submitted later than the affiliated fair's application deadline will not be accepted absent extenuating circumstances. In the case of team projects, the receipt date for the project is the earliest receipt date of all members of the team.

All projects which are not accepted owing to the affiliated fair's allocation being exceeded will be contacted directly as soon as the final count for that fair is confirmed. This will probably occur on Saturday, May 4, or Sunday, May 5. Preliminary notices of non-acceptance may also be sent via e-mail, but are not guaranteed.

Preliminary Notices of Non-Acceptance have been sent to all students who will likely not be accepted, owing to exceeding the allocations in the table above, from the following fairs:
Central California Regional
Greater San Diego
Los Angeles County
Orange County
RIMS - Riverside, Inyo, Mono, San Bernardino
San Mateo County
Santa Clara Valley (Synopsys)
Tulare County
Ventura County
If you are an alternate from one of these fairs, and you have received at least one e-mail from us (the Confirmation Code e-mail in order that your e-mail address has been validated in the database), and you have not received a Preliminary Notice of Non-Acceptance, then your position on your fair's alternates list is high enough to enable us to accept your project. Please see page 11 of the Application Packet for final acceptance.

This table should include every project submitted to the Fair. However, it is possible that some fair associations have been made incorrectly. The numbers are being checked to make certain that fairs which may have exceeded their allocations are correctly counted. Although these numbers are as accurate as possible for now, they are still subject to revision.
